TheeducationalenvironmentintheUKisindeedafarcryfromwhatIwasaccustomedtoinChina.Theemphasisonindependentstudyandcriticalthinkinghasbeenasteeplearningcurve.InChinesecolleges,whilethereisalsoanelementofindependentstudy,theteachingoftenleansmoretowardsstructuredlecturesandgroupassignments.HereintheUK,Iamencouragedtoexploretopicsonmyown,formmyownopinions,andengageinin-depthdiscussionswithprofessorsandfellowstudents.

Oneofthemostrewardingaspectsofmystudyabroadexperiencehasbeentheopportunitytointeractwithpeoplefromallovertheworld.Myclassmatescomefromdifferentcornersoftheglobe,eachbringingwiththemtheirownculturalperspectives,lifestories,andacademicbackgrounds.Theseinteractionshavenotonlyenhancedmyunderstandingofdifferentculturesbutalsobroadenedmyworldview.
