TheEnglish-mediumclasseswerebothachallengeandadelight.Theteacherswereverypatientandkind.Theyusedalotofinterestingteachingmethods,likestorytellingandgroupactivities,tomakethelessonsengaging.InmyEnglishlanguageclass,welearnednotonlygrammarandvocabularybutalsohowtocommunicateeffectivelyinreal-lifesituations.

Duringbreaktimes,Igottotasteawidevarietyoflocalsnacks.TherewerethesweetandsavoryMalaykuih,thecrispyIndiansamosas,andthedeliciousChinese-stylepastries.Itwaslikeamini-foodadventureeveryday.

Ialsomademanynewfriends.Someofthemwerefluentinmultiplelanguages.TheytaughtmesomebasicwordsandphrasesinMalay,Mandarin,andTamil.Inreturn,Isharedsomeofmyownculturalknowledgewiththem.

Participatinginschoolactivitieswasanotherhighlight.Therewereculturalfestivalswherestudentswouldperformtraditionaldancesandsongsfromtheirrespectivecultures.Ievenjoinedasimpledramaclubandhadtheopportunitytoactinashortplay.

StudyinginaprimaryschoolinMalaysiahasbeenaneye-openingexperience.IthasnotonlyimprovedmyEnglishskillsbutalsobroadenedmyculturalhorizons.Ihavelearnedtoappreciatethebeautyofdiversityandhavemadememoriesthatwilllastalifetime.
